Does CascadeShell include UVB lighting?
No. The platform provides a basking location only. Appropriate heat and UVB lighting must be installed separately and selected according to your turtle species and the lighting manufacturer's instructions.
Does the basking area stay completely dry?
It is designed to provide an elevated dry area when the aquarium water level and product position are correctly configured. Splashing and animal activity may occasionally introduce small amounts of water onto the surface.
Does this replace my aquarium filter?
Not necessarily. Filtration requirements depend on aquarium water volume, turtle size, animal population and feeding conditions. Larger or heavily stocked habitats may require additional appropriately sized filtration.
Why is there a waterfall outlet?
The elevated return allows water leaving the filtration chamber to flow visibly back into the aquarium and supports water movement around the habitat.
Can the filter section be cleaned?
Yes. The filtration area is designed for routine access so suitable removable media can be inspected and cleaned according to the supplied maintenance instructions.
How do I know whether the platform fits my turtle?
Choose according to the actual size and mobility of your individual turtle rather than species name alone. Your turtle should be able to climb the ramp, turn comfortably and rest on the upper platform without overcrowding.

Aquatic turtles still require suitable aquarium dimensions, correct water temperature, clean water, an appropriately sized filtration system, a fully accessible dry basking area, appropriate heat and UVB exposure, and regular supervision. Inspect the structure, intake, ramp and filtration area regularly and discontinue use if any component becomes damaged or unstable.
